Our Mission
Cornerstone/Hernandez Home AFC, Inc. is a family-owned and faith-based organization with deep roots in Michigan’s adult foster care community. Founded in the early 1990s after decades of personal experience with de-institutionalization and special needs care, Cornerstone began with adults living in the founders’ family home and has since expanded to over 20 care homes.
Our mission is to provide high-quality, person-centered care to adults with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and other specialized needs. Many of our administrative team members are family, not just by name but in the way we treat those we serve. Every home reflects our core belief that individuals should have a voice in their care, their goals, and their environment.
Our faith-based foundation inspires everything we do, from the way we train our staff to the way we treat every resident with dignity and love.

Countless residents served across Michigan with hundreds of members on staff
Cornerstone AFC is proudly licensed by the State of Michigan and holds CARF Accreditation, an international mark of quality in person-centered care.
